Books and Movies- from the classics to new age up and coming films
When reading The Hunger Games, at the end of Mockingjay, when Katniss sings The Hanging Tree, I started to have this tune and vision of a tragic story play through my head, haunting me. But then Coldplay’s Paradise came on and I would swear it was written and tuned perfectly- a complete embodiment of the song that haunts me day and night. Now, anytime I hear Paradise come on the radio all I can hear is the achingly beautiful words below and it’s meaning.
Does anyone else feel this? Or at least something similar?
Dies this song haunt anyone else, the way it finds its way to the forefront of my thoughts?
The Hanging Tree Lyrics
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where they strung up a man they say murdered three.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where the dead man called out for his love to flee.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where I told you to run, so we’d both be free.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Wear a necklace of rope, side by side with me.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.

Clever words, clever words… I need clever words. I want to flatten my heart and print it on paper.

So very true!
The Hunger Games, Twilight Saga, Jane Austen, Poetry are just some examples of the written word that lure me in and then i’m hooked, some poor junkie that doesn’t know what to do with herself when the words run out! And then there’s spoken words Martin Luther King, Music- the Beatles, Paramore, Keane, Maroon 5, Linkin Park, Bob Marley, and so forth, that can calm, energize, rally, move and motivate you in so many different ways…
so true, people need to learn this

She: Now, be sincere; did you admire me for my impertinence?
He: For the liveliness of your mind, I did.
